Van Dussen, Chris King Hugo’s Huge Ego. Candlewick, 2011. $17. PICTURE BOOK. King Hugo thinks highly of himself. When his huge ego causes injury to a peasant sorceress, she decides it is time to teach the king a lesson and make his head as large as his ego. Illustrations and text work cohesively to create this new morality tale. It would fit in perfectly with your 398.2 section. Plus, the poem/narration is a fairly good example of abab rhyme that doesn’t scan like poetry. EL (K-3) – ESSENTIAL; MS – OPTIONAL. Cindy, Library Teacher.
