Shreeve, Elizabeth Oliver at the Window illustrated by Candice Hartsough Mcdonald 32 pgs. Boyds Mills Press, 2009. PICTURE BOOK. $16.95. Dealing with the uncertainties of beginning pre-school and dealing with his parents divorce, Oliver spends most of his time at the window with his lion, waiting for whichever parent will pick him up next. Over time, he spends more and more time playing with his classmates, but when a new girl arrives and spends most of her time at the window, Oliver shows his understanding compassion. This story touches on parent separation/divorce in a mild and simple way. Could be a good book to share with a child struggling with the same thing. EL-ADVISABLE. Whitney, Library-Teacher.
