My Havana by Rosemary Wells
Wells, Rosemary with Secundino Fernandez. Ill. By Peter Ferguson, My Havana: Memories of a Cuban Boyhood. Candlewick Press, 2010. INFORMATION.
When he was six years old, Secundino Fernandez was forced to leave his home in Havana and is forced to move all over until Castro takes over in 1959. Although he lived in many places and eventually settled in New York, he never forgot his childhood in Cuba. This is his story and his memoir.
Great illustrations. Touching, yet easy to relate to story. Readers who like non-fiction, autobiographies, and life in other countries will enjoy reading this book. EL (4-6), MS. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services Librarian, ADVISABLE.
