Gravett, Emily. Blue Chameleon. Simon and Schuster, 2010. $16.99 PICTURE BOOK. Content, G. A lonely blue chameleon changes his appearance to try and become friends with different objects (banana, cockatoo, boot, stocking, ball, fish, grasshopper and a rock). Each object is a different color. In the end, the chameleon finds another chameleon and they can be as colorful as they want. The book is good for teaching colors and leaves the feeling that you shouldn’t have to change who you are to find friends. The only downfall is that for some reason the author has written two of the pages in other languages-one in French and one in Spanish. I don’t see a purpose in it and it makes the text confusing for young readers. Great pictures and this would be a good board book. Pre-K = OPTIONAL Reviewer: C. Peterson, teacher
