Wilson, N.D. Ninja
Boy Goes to School Illustrated by J.J. Harrison Random House, 2014. PICTURE BOOK
$16.99 Content: G.
A little boy believes he is a ninja and gets
down his hidden ninja equipment before going to school. While at school, he sneaks out the window and
goes out to recess to play by himself.
He is caught by the teacher and reported to the principal. His parents have to come and get him and they
take away his ninja stuff again. But he
knows that he is always a ninja even when it doesn’t show on the outside.
This book has cute illustrations and little
readers that like ninja stuff will enjoy the ninja boy. My issues with this book are that he snuck
out of the class window and disobeyed school rules. Then instead of being sorry
for his bad choices, he explains that a ninja never shows emotions (and for
that matter he never apologizes). Not a
great moral for young readers.
