Bingham, Kelly Circle, Square, Moose. Illustrated by Paul O. Zelinsky. PICTURE
BOOK. HarperCollins Publishers, 2014.
$17.99.Content: G. We can find shapes all around us each and every day. If you look around, what will you find? A button is a circle, a sandwich is a square. But Moose doesn't want us to learn about
shapes, he wants to be the star of the show and interrupts the reader over and
over again. When the narrator finally
loses patience and tells Moose to get out of the book, Zebra comes to the rescue. In all his efforts to get Moose out of the
story, Zebra gets tangled up in some ribbon and Moose ends up coming to his rescue and a friendship is
formed. I really liked the way the book started
out. Not only are fun ways to explore
different shapes introduced, but there is the side story about Moose and
Zebra. But near the end of the book, we
get somewhat lost. The story loses its
flair and becomes a simple, ordinary book. We were a bit disappointed in the
ending. This book could be used in a unit about shapes. Pre-K.
