Hall, Michael Red: A Crayon’s Story. PICTURE BOOK.
Greenwillow (Harper), 2015.
$18. Content: G.
His wrapper says his is Red, but every time he tries to be
red, it comes out wrong. When he works
with yellow to draw an orange, it comes out a big green blob instead. Everyone has ideas about what is wrong and
what might fix him. Until purple asks
him to look at himself in a whole different way.
Fabulous! A small child will love the antics of a crayon labeled the wrong color, while an older reader will get the deeper meanings of not letting others determine what you actually are. Perfect combination of text and illustrations.
