Before Hitler turned his attention to eradicating the Jews
of Europe, he tried out his methods and madness on Germany’s homosexuals.
Because of their small numbers, most of the world was unconcerned with
their plight and their story has merely been a footnote within the context of
WWII. Setterington brings many individual’s stories to light, show the
wide range of humiliation and torture perpetrated upon them. At times the
reading is physically unbearable, but never meant to be titillating. Of
course, because of the subject matter, homosexual relationships are discussed.
What a rich addition to a library for older readers that
covers the Holocaust.
