Handbook for Dragon Slayers by Merrie Haskell - OPTIONAL

Haskell, Merrie Handbook for Dragon Slayers, 324 pgs. Harper, 2013.

Language – PG (2 swears, 0 “f”), Mature Content – PG; Violence – PG;

Princess Mathilda dreams of long uninterrupted days of writing and ends up giving her title away in order to chase after that dream. But as Mathilda’s adventures continue, it becomes clear that what she wants isn’t always what she needs. Can she make her wrongs right before Mathilda loses herself?

As a story about responsibility and ignoring perceptions, this is a great book. As a story about dragons, not so much. I don’t think there were enough dragons in it, but there were lots of other fantasy elements to keep it mildly interesting. The faint in heart can read this dragon slaying adventure, no problem.
