Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian - OPTIONAL

Han, Jenny and Siobhan Vivian  Ashes to Ashes, 387 pgs.  Simon and Schuster, 2014.  $17.99  Content: Language: R (150+ swears; 30 “F”); Mature Content: R (on page sex and crass sexual references); Violence: PG-13.

In this third and final book in the Burn for Burn series, Lilly, Mary and Kat all have to face the consequences of their earlier revenge.  Lilly is falling for Reeve and their relationship is off limits because Reeve is Lily’s best friend’s boyfriend, and Lilly’s best friend just died.  Kat is trying to figure out where Mary disappeared to and Mary is learning how to gain power as a ghost.

This book brings all of the individuals’ stories to a climax with Mary turning to her dark side.  I have read this entire series, I have invested at least 1,000 pages worth of time and the ending is abrupt and not satisfying which irks me to no end.  Relationships that have been built throughout the trilogy are quickly wrapped up in a short epilogue.  Not only that, but the swearing was over the top and totally unnecessary.  The storyline was entertaining and I liked the characters, but not enough to outweigh the content and bad ending.

HS-OPTIONAL.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
