Buried Beneath Us by Anthony Aveni-ADVISABLE

Aveni, Anthony, ill. by Katherine Roy. Buried Beneath Us. Pgs. 90. Roaring Brook Press, 2013. $18.99. INFORMATION.

Long before New York, America, and other cities throughout the Americas were cities, they were various civilizations that grew up, flourished, and disappeared. These are their stories and what researchers and scientists have discovered about them.

A great, engaging layout. The black and white illustrations are detailed and seem befitting of the subject area. The text is informative and helpful. The pronunciations guide is also extremely useful for helping to understand the book. It would’ve been nice, however, if there were places to go for additional information. Still, kids interested in Ancient Civilizations and how they are discovered will enjoy reading this book. EL (4-6). MS. ADVISABLE.
