Grace grew
up in the American embassy in Adria, until a few years ago, when her mother was
murdered in front of her - but no one believes Grace when she talks about the
strange man with the scar who murdered her mother that day. Grace’s
father works for the military and has to go on assignment, so Grace has to go
back to Adria. But Grace is a wreck - a moving, breathing trainwreck who
has ceased to think before she does anything, so her first days are filled with
wild flailing that leaves damage - international wreckage - in her wake.
To Grace, the only thing that matters is proving that she is right.
Grace is so damaged that it is painful to read her story. She is so
willing to hurt anyone and everyone that I wasn’t sure that I even liked her
very much. The end was twisted in just the right way that I am willing to
read number two when it comes out.
