Miles is going to
race his box car at school. He and his
friend are intimidated by a new girls electric car. During the race it’s neck and neck until the
electric car has trouble. Miles stops to
pick up the rider and they are on their way to the finish line, when another
racer passes them.
The illustrations in this book are very cute, but the storyline doesn’t flow very well. There is too much dialogue and a lot of Otto said, Miles said that makes it read choppy. Miles chooses not to finish the race in order to include the new girl, which is nice but it doesn’t really explain any of the reasons why that would be nice.
