As the title suggest, the moon is almost ready to
rise signaling bedtime for everyone. The cow, the butterfly, the mother
hen, the ducklings and other animals prepare for their nightly slumber and wait
for the moon to rise.
Illustrator Tomie dePaola has captured the peaceful
nature of the story with soft colors and wonderful illustrations. The
rhyming lends itself beautifully in creating a sleepy feel and will engage
readers. The story is very reminiscent of Goodnight Moon and will be a
favorite among readers.
