Michelson, Richard Fascinating:
The Life of Leonard Nimoy, illustrated by Edel Rodriguez. PICTURE BOOK. NON-FICTION. Knopf (Random House), 2016. $18.
Leonard Nimoy started out as
an immigrant, feeling like an outsider, living with his Jewish family in
Boston. He finds a excitement being on
the stage and takes a risk, traveling to California in order to try to make it
as an actor. The rest, as they say, is
history.
I enjoyed reading about some
of the details of Nimoy’s early life, especially the tidbit about driving JFK
in a cab. I have a hard time seeing a
child in an elementary school picking up this picture book to read for fun –
unless their family is already Trekkies.
This is really a novelty book for Star Trek fans.
GIFT – OPTIONAL. Cindy, Library Teacher
