It Came in the Mail by Ben Clanton - ADVISABLE

Clanton, Ben It Came in the Mail. PICTURE BOOK. Simon and Schuster, 2016 $17.99.

Liam loves getting things in the mail, but sadly he never receives any packages or letters.  Liam devises a plan to solve his problem.  Liam writes a letter to his mailbox asking it to send him a surprise in the mail and boy does his mailbox deliver.  Liam ends up receiving more packages than he could ever have hoped for including a dragon.  He receives so many packages that he doesn't know what to with them all.  Liam decides to share his good fortune with other kids just like him.

This is a fun and engaging story that kids will love.  The novelty and enjoyment of receiving a surprise in the mail will definitely resonate with readers.  It has great illustrations and would be perfect for introducing younger kids to the concept of mailing and receiving a letter.  The story is short and simple and would be best suited for K-2nd grades.
