About Average by Andrew Clements - ESSENTIAL

A sixth grade girl, Jordan, doesn’t have any special talents that she knew of.  A girl named Maria hurts Jordan’s feelings so Jordan tried to let go of her anger and be nice.  One day during band, a tornado came and knocked her teacher out, Jordan saved her teacher and the students by building a fort.  Jordan figures out that her special talent is forts and she realizes that she is special.  At the end of sixth grade there is a big ceremony and she gets a certificate for saving everyone.  

I liked that Jordan tried to be nice to the mean girl because she took the challenge.  I also liked that she saved the whole band class including her teacher.  She was a good friend.
