Hal is so
excited for summer, he even has goals; eating donuts and playing his favorite
video game. His dad has another idea, summer camp. History summer camp, where
kids live like authentic settlers. Hal finds himself shooting arrows poorly,
churning butter, and even looking for treasure. Hal thinks he can make do, but
turns out the school bully is also at camp which throws a wrench in everything.
This sequel was
much along the lines of the first book, a very typical 6th grade
boy. Its full of photos, illustrations and timelines that help to bring things
in the story to life. Which also unfortunately includes a drawing of a butt
with a thong, excluding me from adding it from my library. I honestly didn't find it funny at all, but it quite readable. I think it’s a good fit for 4th
grade readers, though the main character is just out of 6th grade.
