Bach, Shelby Of Sorcery and Snow (Ever Afters #3), 327 p. Simon, 2014. $17. Language: G; Mature Content: G; Violence: PG (typical fantasy adventure violence).
The Pied Piper has stolen 1001 children from the suburbs of Portland, Oregon, including four identified Characters from the Ever After program. Mildred has forbidden the Tale’s Questor, Miriam, to enter her tale, dooming the children to whatever the escaped Snow Queen has planned for them. But when has that every stopped Rory and her friends from doing exactly what they want to? Never. They may only be in eighth grade, but Rory, Lena, and Chase have some very hard lessons before them and a destiny or many to discover.
Bach says in her end notes that this book was written and edited on a shorter schedule, but it sure doesn’t feel like it. Rory and her friends’ pigheadedness and open hearts make for great adventure. This series does not disappoint.
