O’Connor, George Hera:
The Goddess and her Glory (Olympians series) 80 pgs. Aladdin, 2011. $9.99 Content: Language: G

Hera knows how
to get what she wants, and when she sets her sights on Zeus, she wants to be
more than just the Queen. Hera wants to be both Queen and Wife. Of course, she
gets her way. After a few children, Zeus starts to stray. Hera takes
offense and frequently tries to thwart the affairs and interfere in the lives
of the resulting children. This especially includes Hercules, and this book
presents many of his adventures trying to prove himself.
I am such a big
fan of this series. I don’t know how I ended up with one from 2011, but why
not, such a fun read. These books really help sort out the mass confusion that
Greek mythology can so easily become. I especially appreciate the family chart
at the start, and all the information included in end of the book, like the
authors note. The artwork is great with a ton of variety in color and action. It’s just a tad too suggestive
and sexy for elementary so don’t be tempted.
