Young readers learn that size is relative as they open this book to see a huge lady bug -- and then, on the next page, learn that the bug isn't so big when compared to the leaf it's sitting on. On each spread the book zooms out more, until all is compared to the big sky. Then back again the pictures go, all the way down to a big dog taking a little nap.
What a wonderful lesson on perspective, not to mention a fun, colorfully-illustrated story! The brief text and bold artwork make it perfect for whole-class read-alouds, and the large font and simple word choice are ideal for early readers. All in all, a book with a lot of potential for library and classroom use.
