Broach, Elise Treasure on Superstition Mountain (Book #2) 288
pgs. Random House Books for Young Readers, 2013. $11.67. Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G ; Violence: G.
Henry, Delilah, Simon,
and Jack are back to continue the adventures on Superstition Mountain. After
they find a gold nugget and a map, they continue to research at their local
library, find clues in a ghost town, and explore the mountain. Delilah even
hobbles up with them in a walking cast! But there is danger at every turn, from
rock falls to an unknown human enemy. Will they find the lost goldmine?
This is such a
fantastic read. I of course, LOVE, that the children must dive into local
history at their local library (even if the librarian is super creepy). I
really want to rate this book as essential, but there is a HUGE focus on
sneaking around behind their parents back, to the point where it’s annoying to
read about. Also there is a super cool aunt who talks about grown-up
relationship advice a bit too much –which comes across as odd and out of place.
Still really an intriguing read that is worth adding to your collection. Students
will have fun on this adventure and there is lots of exciting mysteries left to
explore.
