The Legend of the Ghost Dog by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel-ADVISABLE

When her father takes her and her brother to Alaska for a research trip, Tee begins to make friends with Quin, her father’s associate’s daughter. While hiking in the woods with her beagle, she feels like she is being watched. With her new friend, Quin, and her beagle, Henry, the trio go on more hikes in the woods. They soon discover that Quin has a way with dogs and that there is indeed a dog in the woods and he wants something from them. The people of the town claim that there is a ghost dog, a “Shadow,” a wraith that haunts those very woods. Is the dog from the woods really a ghost dog? What could the dog want?

For the intended audience, the plot will be intriguing and suspenseful without being too scary. The characters are likable grab the reader’s interest. Readers who like ghosts, mysteries, supernatural occurrences, and books that dip into horror will like reading this book. EL (3-6). ADVISABLE.
