LaCroix, Debbie Bernstein.  Chalek, Sarah.  It’s Almost Time, 36 pgs.  Kane Miller, 2011.  $14.99.  Back cover:  “It’s almost time… Are you ready?  The gears are winding, getting ready to chime!”  This book explores 11 different clocks and the different sounds they make when the hour hits.  We didn’t love the rhyming.  The illustrations were good, but we weren’t sure why a horse and bird were the main characters?  All in all, the book didn’t intrigue or entice us enough to buy it, or read it a second time.  EL (K-3).  OPTIONAL.  Reviewer: SL.
