Rubin, Adam. Those Darn Squirrels and the Cat Next Door, illustrated by Daniel Salmieri. Clarion Books, 2011. $16.99. PICTURE BOOK.
Old Man Fookwire enjoyed a peaceful life "on the edge of the forest just outside town". For the longest time, the bane of his existence were "those darn squirrels".
That is, until a woman moved in across the stream, and she brought her can Muffins with her. Muffins was a troublemaker whose presence changed the balance of the forest. I really enjoyed this book because it is funny and fun to read, the characters and the book have great personality, and the illustrations are excellent.
