Walsh, Pat. The Crowfield Curse. Scholastic, 2010. $16.99. 319 pgs. Content - PG-13 (Swears: 1); Violence - PG-13. William lost his family in a fire and has to live with the monks at Crowfield. Life is mundane until one day he saves a magical hob in the forest and learns that he has the Sight-which allows him to see the magical world that is hidden from all other humans view. He becomes wrapped up in a fight between the Dark King and the Light King to save the forest animals and a buried angel. This book is excellent, my only concerns are that recommended age inside the cover is 3rd-6th grade-I think it’s too dark for that age group. It has some violence and scary scenes as well as religious questions that are older than elementary. MS-ESSENTIAL. Reviewer, C. Peterson.
