Supernaturally by Kiersten White - ESSENTIAL

White, Kiersten Supernaturally (Paranormalcy Book #2), 352 pages, Harper Teen, 2011, $17.99. Language-G, Mature Content-PG, Violence-G
Evie wants to be a typical teenage girl with a boyfriend, a locker and a charge account, but normal is proving to be a bit dull for a former IPCA operative. With her immortal boyfriend, Lend, away at Georgetown University, a moody vampire for a roommate and a job at the local paranormal diner, small-town high school life is not a dramatic as Evie envisioned. When she gets pulled back into working for the IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agency), Evie meets Jack, a devil-may-care hottie with some unique talents including the irritating ability to get Evie in trouble. In this sassy sequel to Paranormalcy, Evie continues in her struggle to find her place in both Jack's and Lend's worlds. I liked this book a lot. I was afraid that, like in so many other series, the second book would be the "Empire Strikes Back" of sequels where everything goes wrong, and all of the storylines are left in cliff hangers. Instead, Supernaturally is satisfying, original and brisk propelling Evie's story forward at brake-necked speed. Fortunately, you'll want to keep up with high-heeled Evie as she tackles the angst and ecstasy of teenage hood in her own very paranormal way. MS/HS-ESSENTIAL; Reviewer: Gretchen
