Weston, Robert Paul. Dust City, 300 pgs. Razor Bill Books, 2010. $16.99. Language PG-13 (6 swears, 0 ‘f’) Sexual Content- G, Violence-PG 13. Henry Whelp is the son of the infamous “Big Bad Wolf” who killed Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother. They live in a worn out city that runs on artificial fairy dust, after the fairies all mysteriously left when Henry was little. After Henry’s dad gets put into prison, he stays at a Home for Wayward Wolves. But a murder at the Home sends Henry on a search to find his dad- and where the fairies went. I really liked this book! It was a twist on a modern fairytale, where the big bad wolf isn’t so bad after all. Its dark intrigue keeps you interested until the twist at the end! Middle School, High School- ESSENTIAL.
