Leena is a young Muslim girl. She has decided to try fasting
for Ramadan for the first time, but just for one day, not the entire month. At
the end of a long day without food and water, her family will break their fast
with prayers and feast. But Leena has been invited to a birthday party, will
she be able to hold to her convictions? Features large illustrations filled
with warm light.
This book is wonderful way to bring the concept of fasting
to life. It also has a community message of acceptance and friendship. The
illustrations are warm and cozy and large enough to share with a group of
students learning about Ramadan. Could also be used for a family with children
deciding if they are ready to fast for the first time.
