Until the day the Nazis came for her and her father, Greta
had no idea she was Jewish. Her life
revolved around home, singing, and her viola.
Now, however, she had her father have been ripped away and every day is
a struggle to stay alive in the work camp.
Even after liberation, life is an uphill battle.
Stamper goes back and forth between past times and present
to weave a more complete look at a Holocaust survivor’s experience, horror,
struggles. Because the time covers Gerta
from childhood to adulthood, age-wise this is most appropriate for older
students.
HS – ADVISABLE.
