Burt, Jake Greetings from Witness Protection!, 358

Nicki has been in the foster care system because her father is in
prison. Her Grammy taught her how to be a pick-pocket and that usually gets
Nicki in trouble with foster families.
When the U.S. Marshals show up at the foster care center and start to
show interest in Nicki, she realizes the opportunities she might gain by going into
Witness Protection with the Trevor family.
As Nicki assimilates into the Trevor family she needs to protect the
family’s identity because they are on the run from the mob.
I enjoyed this book because of its creative
story line. Nicki is a likable character
who is kind and funny. In the beginning,
when Nikki is getting briefed about how to be in the program, it’s a bit bogged
down with details, but because I cared about her character it was easy to keep
going. The violence is PG-13 because
Nikki sees a picture of a dead body and the description is graphic and there is
also a shooting.
MS – ADVISABLE. Reviewer, C. Peterson.
