Sawan, Anne and Isik, Sernur What Can your Grandma Do? PICTURE BOOK. Clavis,
2017. $17.
Jeremy’s
class is having a grandparent talent show day. As he listens to all the other
children talk about their grandparent’s talent, Jeremy becomes worried. His
Grandma is good at lots of things, but none of them are special. When he goes
to her house after school, together they search for her talent.
I started off really liking this book, especially the adorable illustrations. But I didn’t care in the slightest for the ending. Grandma just had to have a special talent, which they eventually find. She just couldn’t be herself or appreciated for the all the nice things she does. Then very last page is very abrupt and I was convinced there had to be one or two more pages, but there wasn’t.
