Heos, Bridget Birds (Just Like Us) PICTURE BOOK. HMH, 2017. $15.
This
book features tons of information about birds presented in the format of
comparing them to humans. Such as singing, dancing, decorating a home, raising
a family, eating, and more. Lots of busy cartoon illustrations and some
photographs fill each page to the brim.
I
was prepared to be thrilled after reading the ant book in this series, but this
one wasn’t nearly as good. The comparison didn’t go quite as well and there was
less text and less interesting facts. I was frustrated with the sketchy cartoon
illustrations as I think in the case of birds, photographs would have served
much better, like showing off birds who knit and bowerbirds blue bowers. The
cover is busy, dated, and unappealing.
