Barnett, Mac The Wolf the Duck and the Mouse Illustrated by Jon Klassen PICTURE BOOK
Candlewick Press, 2017.
$17.99 Content: G.
A wolf eats a mouse. When the mouse gets in the belly of the wolf,
he finds a duck taking a nap in a nice bed.
Together the duck and the mouse make a home in the belly of the
wolf. One day a hunter almost shoots the
wolf, but duck and mouse help him. When
the wolf thanks them, he asks what they would like him to do for them and they
say they want to keep living in his belly.
Having the mouse and duck live in this belly makes him have a tummy ache
and that is why the wolf howls at the moon.
What a quirky, yet fun story. The
illustrations are done in very muted colors, but the animals are animated and
cute. There is not a lot of text
(between 2-5 short sentences per page), but the simple story line makes for an
engaging read.
