Woodpecker Wants a Waffle by Steve Breen- ADVISABLE

Breen, Steve. Woodpecker Wants a Waffle, PICTURE. Harper, 2016. $17.99. When you wake up smelling something delicious, you have to investigate. That’s what happens to Benny the woodpecker. For the first time, he discovers waffles. He wants to eat one really badly. He tries all sorts of ways to get into the diner where the waffles are served, but just can’t make it in. He tells his forest buddies about his waffle desires and they just laugh at him. Benny tells them all about an elaborate plan he has to break in and get the waffles and instructs them to be at the diner the next morning. Once all the animals crowd the restaurant and the patrons go outside to take a look at them, Benny sneaks in and reaps his waffle reward. This was a unique story with a cute spin at the end.
