He makes friends with a little boy named Sam and his family and goes with them. Rangers skills in rescue prove invaluable to the family and everyone in caravan. Will Ranger ever get home to his real family and time?

This is a cute book that infuses history, a dogs perspective, and adventure. Its doesn’t hold back though, there are many dangers and death. I think 4^th graders would love this book as they learn about the history of the west, but are still young enough to have dog stories be incredibly appealing. Add this to your historical fiction collection (or animal stories or science fiction…good luck with that).
