Roscoe, Charlie The
Red Prince Illustrated by Tom Clohosy
Cole PICTURE BOOK Templar Books, 2015 (Candlewick Press). $16.99
Content: PG.
A young prince loves
his country of Avala. When the king and
queen go on a trip, invaders come and take over the country. Although they search for the prince he hides
and is protected by the people.
Eventually the people of Avala force the invaders off of their land.
This is an unsettling children’s books. The illustrations are rich in color and
beautiful. I love the loyalty of the people
to their prince, but there are bad guys chasing the prince throughout which
makes it feel intense for a children’s book.
There is no actual violence and they don’t capture the prince, but it
feels like imminent danger making it PG.
