Adrift: A Odd Couple of Polar Bears
PICTURE BOOK Balzier and Bray,
2017. $17.99 Content: G.
Karl and Hazel are two polar bears who don’t have a lot in common. Hazel is quiet and likes to read and Karl
likes to socialize and talk. One night
when they are on a piece of an iceberg it breaks away from their home and they
are stranded together. They learn to
like each other and depend on each other, so when they return to land they
choose to stay friends.
This book is
adorable with cute illustrations. The
idea that sometimes friendship isn’t obvious, but has to be worked on is a
great moral. I loved this book, but
thought it weird that the polar bears didn’t just swim back to land, but it’s a
kid’s book and has a great message.
