Curato, Mike. Little Elliot Big City, BOARD BOOK. Henry Holt and Company, 2014. $7.99. Elliot is a small, unique elephant. He loves living in a big city, but sometimes struggles because he is so little. When he tries to buy a cupcake, but can’t because no one notices him, he is devastated. As he makes his way home, he spots a mouse even smaller than himself who needs help reaching some food. Helping the mouse makes Elliot feel really big. The next day the mouse goes to the cupcake shop with Elliot to help him finally buy a cupcake. This is a really sweet book. The message of feeling big and finding friendship when you help someone else, is perfectly portrayed. The pictures are cute and young readers will relate to Elliot’s problems of being too small for some activities. This looks to be another edition to a series in which Little Elliot is the main character. PRE-K, EL (K-3)- ADVISABLE. Reviewed by Shay, School Librarian
