In this wordless picture book, Flora meets a penguin while ice skating. Both want to be friends, but each one has a very different way of showing it. Can they overcome their individual approaches and get along?
The illustrations in this one are lovely, and watching Flora and the penguin learn to communicate is a great example for kids who find themselves having difficulties making friends of their own. Because of the flaps, which are made of regular book paper, this one might not last long on the library shelves -- hence the 'optional' rating. However, it is 'advisable' for personal use, for a gift, or for, say, a teacher's own bookshelf.
