There are rumors of moon dragons in the mountains, and the King will stop at nothing to possess one. Despite the motivation of reward, no hunter can even spot one. A young orphan named Alina decides to give it a try, confident she can be the one to discover them. When she does, Alina will have to make a choice, freedom for the amazing creatures or reward from the King.
The book features a wonderful message about the freedom of wild creatures and could translate well for a lesson on wildlife and preservation of wild lands/habitats for animals. The illustrations are stunning and dragons are a popular topic. It is however, one of those picture books that young readers can’t read on their own, the vocabulary being quite high for that. Also I wish that we could have learned more about the main character, maybe how her life changed after, or maybe the dragons could have led her to someone that wanted to adopt her. Basically I need real closure, call it a grown up perspective, but I am the one who choose which books to purchase, so I have to be content with the book too!
