Al can’t think about anything but owls because he loves them so much. At school, at home, at movies, everywhere –owls are on his mind. When he attends summer camp, he meets an owl one night. His dream has come true, he gets to even gets to do real owl things with his new friend. Including eating, which doesn’t turn out so well.
Everyone has experienced a child with a one track mind about their current interest. This book has adorable illustrations and I happen to adore owls. The realization that the little boy comes to is funny but doesn’t hold much hope for children with other interest obsessions, since its pretty specific to owls. Then again, I stopped wanted to be a marine biologist when I discovered sea sickness, so I think it does have some carryover!
