Hidden is the story of Brigid, an Irish princess who,
along with her older sister, Melkorka, was stolen from their family by Russian
slavers. Brigid escapes, jumping off the ship into the icy water. However, she
discovers that her sister was unable to escape with her, as she had thought.
Brigid is left alone in a strange land, with no money, no shelter, and no
friends. Brigid takes the name of Alfhild, and sets out to learn the language
and the land. She’s just waiting until she’s ready - she will find the slavers
that took her sister, and she will rescue Melkorka.
This book was a great sequel to Hush, Melkorka’s
story. It was really nice to get a bit of background for Brigid - I always
wondered what happened to her after she jumped! I also liked getting a deeper
insight into the Norse and their culture. This book was a great mixture of
adventure and romance, with just a
little hint of suspense. I really liked it.
