The Watcher in the Shadows (Sequel to The Inquisitors Apprentice) by Chris Moriarty –OPTIONAL

Moriarty, Chris The Watcher in the Shadows (Sequel to The Inquisitors Apprentice) 336 pgs. HMH Books for Young Readers, 2013. $16.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G.
In this second book Sacha is still the apprentice to the Inquisitor. They began to investigate the death of a man who is fried by his electric tuxedo. Things are getting scary as Sacha worries about the safety of his family and has to face the fact that the dark creature, the dybbuk, is still after him. He really doesn’t want to learn magic, but if he wants to save himself and his family, Sacha might just have to start learning!
This book presents an intensely complex plot that features various politics, motives, and intrigues. Frankly, its overwhelming. I don’t think many children will relate to the main character actually not wanting magic powers. I liked the historical setting and feel, the author does a very good job with creating the setting and mood.
