Moore, Inga Captain Cat. PICTURE BOOK. Candlewick Press, 2013. $15.99. Content: G
Captain Cat is a trader who doesn't care for treasure. Instead, he exchanges his goods for cats, until he has an entire ship full of them. But when he is blown off course and ends up on a remote island, he meets a young queen with a rat problem. As it turns out, there's someone who needs his cats even more than he does.
This is not only a delightful tale with lovely illustrations, but also a celebration of some people's love for cats. At 48 pages, it's longer than the average picture book, yet it does not feel overly wordy, and the plot warrants the length, especially in the end.
