Katie loves that
it’s just her and her mom, they are best friends. She doesn't like change, and
it seems like everything in her life starts changing. Her mom has mysterious
new friends and isn't spending as much time with her. Katie event gets upset
when the cupcake club uses a new flavor of jam. Then when her father, who hasn't been a part of her life, contacts her, Katie must decide if she wants to meet
him. Can Katie accept that change is
normal and great part of life.
This series continually
addresses some real life issues in a light way without being too dark or upsetting.
I like that the girls are able to overcome any problems by relying on their
family and friends, and their own inner strength. I just want to reiterate that
even though the setting is middle school, this is fully an elementary series.
No middle school student would worry about the maturity of wearing lipgloss.
