Rio: Snakes Alive! by Stefan Petrucha - OPTIONAL

Petrucha, Stefan Rio: Snakes Alive!, 54 pgs.  Illustrated by James Silvani and Amy Mebberson.  Papercut, 2014.  $7.99  GRAPHIC NOVEL  Content: PG.

Linda and Tulio learn that they have to pay for the bird sanctuary or they are going to lose it.  Blue overhears them and wants to help them find money.  Blue tries to raise money by finding a hair growth formula, but instead they help Tulio find a new species of bats.  They use the new species of bats to write a book and get attention, so it leaves the ending hanging thinking that they save the sanctuary.

I liked this book because the pictures looked like the movie.  I liked the story because it’s about family.  I didn’t like that Blue was always freaking out and told his kids scary things so they would stay safe and I didn’t like that he lied.
