NOVEL
The fourth book
in this fun series, we follow Captain Drake as his tries to find the three
thieves. He just knows they are hiding out in a house of healing, a neutral
safe house. He starts to think about his past, how he became a King’s Dragon,
his special mission from the now dead king, and his disappointment in his
position. His memories are presented in black and white in contrast to the
present which is show in color. Will he succeed in his mission or fail the
queens command?
This was a dark
and complex addition to the series. I have the first 3 books in this series in
my elementary library, but I won’t be adding this one. While interesting and a
intriguing fleshing out of the characters, this book jumps up to a more middle
school level. I was actually pretty disappointed to spend a whole book with the
very serious Captain Drake, when the series has been so fun prior to this.
Might be a decent series for a middle school library.
