The Pig Family is headed to the beach to have a family picnic.  They are excited about the adventures they will have at the beach and have no idea what additional adventures they will encounter en route to their destination.  They come across every vehicle known: tow trucks, bulldozers, forklifts, locomotives, and more.  They even encounter vehicles that are a little less known: a pumpkin car and a broom-o-cycle! The Pig Family’s story is told throughout the book, but each page is filled with many illustrations and additional characters that could be used as a springboard for discussion or additional stories.  Readers will love this story along with the bright, detailed and colorful illustrations that only Scarry can produce.  Since 1940, Scarry has filled our imagination with his fun, loving, one-of-a-kind characters.
