Reichs, Kathy Exposure (Virals #4), 418 p. Putnams, 2014. $18. Langauge: PG-13 (30 swears, 0 ‘f’); Violence: PG (not graphic); Mature Content: G.
After Tory angers The Gamemaster so much that he tries to kill her right during his trial, Tory hopes that she and the other Virals can just get on with their lives. Sure she isn’t speaking to Ben because he was working with the Gamemaster in order to impress Tory. Sure they can’t be real humans any more because the four teens were infected by a lab-created virus that gives them super powers. But a girl can dream, right? But when two students from her private school are kidnapped, Tory can’t stay away. She is sure that the Virals’ powers can save the day long before the police have a clue. Too bad her heedlessness will put Tory right back into mortal danger.
Though these are peripherally related to the Bones TV series (Brennan is Tory’s aunt), the Virals are a case unto themselves. I think fans of Muchamore’s CHERUB series would enjoy these, just point them in that direction.
